The highlights of Namibia are many and any Namibia tour will take in several. In the south of Namibia is the dune area of Sossusvlei, the deep Fish River Canyon, and the ghost town of Kolmanskop. The towns of Swakopmund and Luderitz have interesting Germanic architecture, a reflection of Namibia’s history.
Travel along the coast on your Nambia holiday to see vast colonies of Cape fur seals and offshore you can often spot dolphins. In the north are the shipwrecks and nomadic Himba people in the area known as the Skeloton coast, remote and only accessible by plane.
If you would like to include mountain areas in your Namibia holiday then one mountain area excellent for walking is Spitzkoppe, a group of bald granite peaks. The highest point reaches 1,728 metres above sea level. Brandberg, also granite, is the highest of Namibia’s peaks at 2,580 m, and we can organise a trekking tour in Nambia to include a climb of it. Brandberg is of great significance to the native San (Bushman) tribes who have made several groups of rock art including the well-known White Lady rock painting.
Namibia lends itself to a variety of adventurous activities such as mountain biking, trekking and horse riding as well as the more leisurely pursuits of birdwatching, walking, ballooning and angling. On the coast around Walvis bay and Swakopmund, there is kite surfing, sand boarding and kayaking too.
Namibia really lends itself to road trips. It is a vast, empty country with a good road network and very little traffic. The Namibians drive on the left and all road signs, though there are not many, are in English. The luxury lodges, self-catering lodges, guest houses and campsites are well located and offer a full range of styles and quality to suit all tastes and budgets.
Windhoek is the capital of Namibia, with a population of 325,000. It is a relatively small capital city with plenty of shops, supermarkets, banks and so on, good for stocking up if heading off on a long road trip. Most tours and holidays start and finish in Windhoek at the international airport. Here you can pick up your hire car.
The coastal German influenced town of Swakopmund is on most holiday itineraries. The sea food is excellent and it is the heart of many adventure tourism activities.

Below you will find a few of the many attractions Namibia has to offer.
This is a stunning semi-desert area of beautiful landscapes, with characteristic table top hills.
Highlights of the area include the Brandberg, Namibia’s highest mountain which is also home to the ‘White Lady’ Bushman Painting.
You’ll also find Twyfelfontein, a rocky outcrop with some of the best examples of bushman paintings and engravings in Southern Africa.
Then there is Spitzkoppe, a large dramatic group of rocky outcrops, sacred to the San people.
Interesting rock formations and the remains of prehistoric volcanic action can also be seen in the Organ Pipes, Burnt Mountain, Doros Crater and the Petrified Forest.
Etosha National Park is undoubtedly the wildlife highlight of Namibia.
The wildlife is varied and plentiful, including lion, giraffe, elephant, leopard and rhino, and over 330 bird species.
The landscapes of Etosha makes it a unique environment with some thorn and Mopane trees, grasslands, and a large salt pan.
You will never tire of driving into the park to view the animals, or sitting quietly by the camp spot lit waterholes as rhino, lion and other animals come to drink after dark.
It is situated in the northwest of the country and is easily accessible by road.
